Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service
Description of activity

Barnet SEND Information, Advice and Support Service offers free, confidential, and impartial information, guidance, advice and support for parents/carers of children with special educational needs (SEN) and or a disability and young people with SEN and or a disability. We can offer the opportunity to talk things through and voice your concerns about your child’s education. We can support you with information and advice about Barnet’s Local Offer, help when writing letters to school / Local Authority (LA) and information about the law on SEN and disability, health and social care through trained staff. We offer help with Education, Health and Care Plan needs assessment and processes. We give advice on issues around school placement, support at meetings (with appropriate notice) and information on who to contact if you are not happy with a decision that has been made. We give advice on exclusions and offer information about other organisations that might be helpful to you. We also have information booklets on a range of topics and give talks to groups and organisations about our service. We have no limit to the amount of time our service will support a parent/carer/young person but generally a parent/carer/young person will call in as they require support regarding a certain difficulty, we will support them through that and then close the case. The parent/carer/young person can call in any time after that for further support.
