Community Focus - ARTiculate programme
Description of activity

ARTiculate is a new 3-year empowering programme using creativity to enhance and celebrate the positive mental and emotional well-being of 16-25 year olds in Barnet. Young people who sign up and join ARTiculate have the opportunity to do 8-art sessions to learn new skills, meet new people and gain benefits from getting involved in 'creative arts'. They also have the opportunity to display/ perform and celebrate their hard work, at a 'Graduation Event'. The young people's friends and family are welcome to attend this event. The benefits of 'creative arts' include improvements in communication skills, confidence & self-worth and/ or ability to work in a team. Examples of 'creative arts' include (but is not limited to) DJ-ing, music, drama, painting, dance or ceramics. ARTiculate is working with key partners in Barnet, e.g. local mental health charities, to offer a "wrap-round" service, accreditation and social enterprise opportunities to young people. ARTiculate will also be offering a Youth Forum and Mentoring Programme for young people who wish to stay involved in the programme. Key to working in ARTiculate is wanting to work as part of a wider group. Young people wanting to get involved in the programme is crucial and ARTiculate staff will work hard to ensure the ARTiculate programme is attractive, welcoming and inclusive. We do not offer one-to-one on-going support. ARTiculate will be offering advice, information and a sign-posting service to young people so they can access other services, as required.
