Description of activity

The Orthotic service offers assessment, prescription and supply of devices to support the lower limbs in regard to posture, standing and walking. It will commonly provide specialist insoles, footwear and leg splints. Children and young people seen in the Orthotic clinic may be seen jointly by children's senior physiotherapist and the Orthotist and will either be seen for initial consultation and discharged or seen and prescribed devices. They will be supplied with the devices as soon as they are available to the service and there is an appropriate appointment space, following supply the case will be left for families to contact for repeat appointments based on needs due to growth, compliance or any other issues, but the service does not routinely re call patients.

Referral Criteria

This service is for Barnet residents or those with a Barnet GP only.
