Barnet Mencap
Description of activity

Barnet Mencap provides advice, information and support for parent/carers of children with learning disabilities and special educational needs with telephone and one-to-one support on a range of issues including education, health, housing, benefits and other matters. There are parenting programmes and workshops throughout the year.

Open Door provides drop-in sessions at Newstead’s and Barnfield Children's Centres for under 5s. There are activities for children and young people aged 11-18 including arts & crafts, dance and circus skills. Take a Break provides short breaks for families and is funded by the council and through personal budgets.

Through Bright Futures, Barnet Mencap offers advice, information and support for people with learning disabilities and/or autism from the age of 18. There is an extensive range of leisure and learning activities and support to find paid work and training.
