SEND and Alternative Provision Improvement Plan (Department for Education, 2nd March 2023)
This document sets out plans to change the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and alternative provision system in England.
What is the plan about?
The plan explains what the government will do to make sure more children and young people with SEND or in alternative provision get the support they need.
It follows the SEND and alternative provision green paper which was consulted on in March 2022.
The plan includes:
- responses to the feedback received
- the improvements that will be made as a result of the feedback
- the proposals that are going to be tested and reviewed
The roadmap summarises the actions we’ll take to improve the SEND and alternative provision system in England that are set out in the improvement plan.
An executive summary of the improvement plan is available in British Sign Language (BSL). You can also request a Braille or audio version of the plan.
