Who should attend:
SLC Lead /SLC Champion across EYs, KS1, KS2, KS3
Outline/Objectives:
Do you have a Speech and Language Lead or SLC Champion in your school, who generally works closely with an NHS SaLT to run small groups or 1-2-1 sessions? This is a 4-part course, which will give the opportunity to meet with other SLC Leads online and to consolidate SLC skills, knowledge and understanding in 4 key areas. The modules will focus on practical strategies and resources.
In the Spring term, there will be a second training course (‘in-person’ if permitted), with the focus on supporting Social Communication in the Classroom and setting up social skills groups (see flyer for more details).
This SLC universal/targeted level, 4-part course will cover the following:
· Part 1: Universal Training Introduction & identification of SLCN
· Part 2: Supporting Attention & Listening in the Classroom
· Part 3: Supporting Vocabulary Learning (Word Aware Intro)
· Part 4: Building Sentences (Colourful Semantics Approach)
NOTE: ‘Part 3 Vocabulary Module’ has a primary session on 5/11/20 and a secondary session on 12/11/20. Please choose just one, depending on your key stage
