As highlighted in Barnet’s Autism strategy, we want to make sure that autistic children and young people and adults are actively involved in helping us to plan and develop our practice and provision.  With this in mind, please find information below regarding the development of an Autism Advisory Reference Group.

Please do share with professionals, children and young people and parents/carers that you think would be interested in supporting us with this.

Volunteer Delegates for Reference Group

The Autism Advisory team would like to develop a reference group to support the use of a collaborative approach to develop the team’s work in schools and Post 16 education. This will include developing and reviewing evaluation tools to continually feed into and modify our team’s work and approach.

We are dedicated to including autistic people throughout our work so will prioritise autistic candidates for parent/carer and staff positions.

We require the following positions to support us in this endeavour:

  • 2 Delegates - Parent/Carers of Autistic children/young people
  • 2 Delegates – Autistic young people in Secondary School or Post-16 Provision
  • 2 Delegates – Staff working with autistic children/young people

Expectations:

Termly meeting of 2-3 hours to support the development of the Autism Advisory Team’s Service Delivery Model. Some work outside of this meeting may be required but would be on a volunteer basis.

Delegates will attend/work or have children attending Barnet mainstream schools including Additionally Resourced Provisions (ARPs). (ARPs at JCOSS, Whitefield, and Hendon Secondary Schools)

How do I express my interest?

Please email [email protected] to register your interest and for more information. If we receive more than 2 applications per position we may require more details as to why you would like to be involved and the skills you would bring to the position.

The deadline for expression of interest is May 21, 2021.

Thank you for your consideration and support.

The Barnet Autism Advisory Team
