The contract with NELFT commenced on the 1 September 2018, there has been a planned mapping and period of restructure through to 1 July 2019. The therapy service has offered “business as usual” during this time. This is reflective of the service offer with the previous provider, with the addition of the services integrating to become one team and a Single Point of Access (SPA) set up at the beginning of the contract on the 1 September 2018 for ease of referrals.

The SPA can be contacted at the following points:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Telephone: 0300 300 1821
  • Address: CIT team, 3rd floor Westgate House, Edgware Community Hospital, HA8 0AD

The service mapping has included review of service delivery and the capacity within the team and will inform the new structure of the service which will include posts which cover training and transition of young people.  There will also be posts which offer direct contact, liaison and support to children, young people and their families and carers.

The service offer will include universal, targeted and specialist services and will offer pathways for children and young people based on their need rather than their medical condition.

The clinical service consultation has now closed and the staff are being assigned to the relevant clinical posts during the next month. There will be some recruitment to the vacant posts. Work continues to develop integrated clinical pathways and criteria for acceptance to the service.

NELFT continues to work on a tailored website which will develop further once the consultations are complete. This will offer information on therapy and early support for families and will link to the local offer.
