Over the course of the last two years, we have been working with our families, schools and stakeholders to plan for the next phase of provision for children and young people with SEND. Our ambition continues to be to provide as many local places as possible for children and young people who have Education, Health and Care Plans, as we are committed to improving outcomes for our most vulnerable children and young adults, and ensuring that we have high quality and appropriate provision to meet need.

The documents below include:

  • A Position Statement, explaining the steps we have taken to identify gaps in local provision and the additional specialist places that need to be developed.  It also includes proposals for the use of  the remaining capital allocation from the Special Provision Fund (the capital grant of £5.1m allocated to Barnet by the Department for Education to support the development of specialist provision for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities).
  • A draft ‘Special Provision Plan’ setting out in the format required by the DfE, our proposals for use of the capital grant.
  • A Consultation and Engagement Plan - setting out our plans to issue a Consultation Document in mid-June and to carry out consultation with stakeholders between mid-June and 23 July 2019.
